The problem is, it’s so easy to get caught up in the busyness of daily life that we rarely give ourselves time to enjoy these simple pleasures. A lack of fresh air can cause issues when it comes to your health, your mood and your overall energy levels so it’s important to get outside and soak it in as often as you can. Unsure of how to make time when you’ve got a life of work, kids and chaos? No worries! No matter how busy your day may seem, there are simple ways to give yourself a fresh air fix. Here are 4 ways to get a quick energy fix without having to take a nap or drowning yourself in caffeine.

 

  1. 5-minute meditation:When you’re struggling to get through a long day, a great way to give yourself a boost of energy (and breath of fresh air) is to do a simple 5-minute meditation. Meditation often gets confused with lengthy sabbaticals of silence, however, this couldn’t be further from the truth. You can easily work meditation into your daily schedule by taking 5 minutes to step outside, find a quiet bench and clear you head of all the chaos. Taking the time to refocus your thoughts, soak up the sunshine and feel the breeze on your face is one of the best ways to give yourself an immediate pick me up on those days when you need it the most.

 

  1. Take a quick walk:When you feel like you’re running on fumes, walking is a great way to clear your head, get some air and give yourself a quick boost of energy. You don’t need to go overboard and walk 3 miles to make a difference, however. A simple walk around the block in the fresh air and sunshine can work wonders on your mood and make it possible to get through the rest of your day with a smile and a high energy, positive attitude. Simply allowing yourself the time to be alone with your thoughts and clear your head can be a game changer when it comes to how you handle stress and make it through the rest of your day.

A simple action like opening your windows and letting the fresh air breeze through your home can naturally boost your energy and you mood. Take in a deep breath and simply notice this beautiful world– the flowers, trees, birds, sunshine and all the rest. How often does this go unnoticed? Opening your windows will allow you to get a dose of fresh air and a fresh perspective on life and the world around you. That’s a win-win!

 

  1. Have a picnic: Let’s face it: We all have to eat at some point during the day, so why not take it outside and make it a picnic? When you’re short on time, it’s easy to grab a drive thru snack and stuff your face as you’re heading back to work. However, this can leave you feeling more drained and unproductive as the day goes on. Instead, pack your lunch and a blanket and step outdoors for a quick 15-20 minute pick me up. A close park, outdoor patio or even a nearby bench can serve as a place to unpack and eat while you soak up the sunshine and fresh air. You’ll be amazed at how much better you feel when you allow yourself some much needed time outdoors.
