Winter Cleanse Series - Tea

Have you ever considered all of the amazing benefits of tea? Both herbal and caffeinated?

Both green tea and matcha tea have received a lot of attention over the last couple of years in relation to their potential to assist with weight loss. Their greatness extends far beyond their weight loss capability and extends to large amounts of antioxidants that help fight free radicals and keep your cells functioning optimally. Both green and black tea contain a compound called epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG for short) that has been shown to reduce cholesterol, be anti-inflammatory and also assist in blocking tumorigenesis (the growth of tumours), inhibit proliferation (creating more cancer cells) and inducing apoptosis (the death of cells) in some forms of leukaemia cells. Amazing right?

Let's not forget herbal teas! Chamomile has long been known to assist with relaxation and getting to sleep. Red clover tea can assist with reducing cholesterol, reducing menopausal symptoms such as hot flushes and reducing PMS such as sore boobies. Raspberry leaf tea helps reduce PMs symptoms including nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea and reduce menstrual cramping (something we can all do without!). Peppermint tea is used to ease digestive upsets and relieve tension headaches and migraines. Dandelion Root tea is believed to assist the liver with detoxification which can lead to clearer eyes and skin.
